Orange Blossom Beekeepers Association

Orange County

UF/IFAS names this club for Orange County. If you keep bees in Orlando, or mean to, this is the room.

The University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory lists Orange Blossom Beekeepers Association on its statewide beekeeper associations page. UF/IFAS Extension Orange County points backyard keepers to the same club. That is the citation trail these pages follow: lab list, county extension. The club’s own host has not been opening, so this page does not reprint a meeting night, a room, or a price.

How to use those pages

Open the Orange County backyard beekeeping page the week you mean to go. If that page still names a listserv or a meeting line, believe that page, not a reprint here. If it is quiet, use the lab association list and the UF/IFAS office finder.

What the club is for

A local association is where a new keeper finds a mentor and a sideliner hears what this year is doing to brood. FDACS registers the hive. These pages cite the papers. The club is the room of keepers. Some members do removal work on their own; that work runs through the paths they publish, and through the FDACS list for bees in a wall. A meeting is a meeting. Ask through the contact a live page posts if a cluster is on a branch. For a colony in a structure, use the FDACS removal or eradication page and a person who does buildings.

Other counties have other clubs. Take those names from the same UF association list. Do not bundle them.

If you want the long course after you find a mentor, that is Bee College and the Master Beekeeper Program. If you want the law, that is registration. If you want the yard rules, that is neighbors. The club is the people who will tell you when your brood nest is too tight and your veil is on backwards.
